The International Political Science Association (IPSA), founded in Paris under the auspices of UNESCO in 1949, is an international academic and research association. IPSA is dedicated to the advancement of science worldwide. Its goal is to create a global community in which all can participate; more recently, it has been expanding its reach in Eastern Europe and Latin America. IPSA holds consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and UNESCO, and is a member of the International Social Science Council and the Global Development Network. Starting with 52 members in 1952, IPSA's individual membership now numbers over 3,400. Associate membership is open to research and teaching institutions and reaches approximately 110 institutions worldwide. Similarly, by 2025, 59 associations from different countries will be collective members of IPSA.
