Personal resume

Ismael Amarouch García (Casablanca, 1983). Spanish architect (2014), master's degree in Advanced Architectural Projects (2016), and Ph.D. in Advanced Architectural Projects (2023), with international mention and distinction cum laude, all from the School of Architecture, Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM-UPM).

At ETSAM-UPM, he has been a mentor and intern teacher in Architectural Projects from 2015 to 2020, a fellow of GIVCO (Collective Housing Research Group, 2018), and research coordinator at MCH (Master in Collective Housing, 2019). Doctoral research stay at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, 2022). Member of the Spanish Scientists Association in Sweden (ACES SFFS).

Author of a dozen articles in indexed journals, presentations at international congresses and schools, and outreach courses. Reviewer in Architecture Magazine (Bogotá), Astrágalo (Spain). Member of the scientific committee of the International Congress Pioneers of Modern Architecture (Alejandro de la Sota Foundation, Spain).

He has worked in prestigious Spanish studios such as Alberto Morell, LLPS Arquitectos, and Israel Alba. On an individual level, he highlights his first prize in the national ideas competition Renove Fuencarral (COAM, 2015), focused on the rehabilitation and urban regeneration of the Poblado Dirigido de Fuencarral in Madrid.

He has collaborated in relevant publications such as the series 14km on the origins of architecture (Greece, Turkey, Ireland, and Italy), Collective Housing and Climate in Spain (199- 2019), and Housetag: European Collective Housing (2000-2021). He is the co-author, with the professor of Architectural Projects Luis Martínez Santa-María, of the book Madrid Guide with unpublished work of architecture (conarquitectura, 2023).

Currently, he is a member of the Advanced Research Laboratory, Faculty of Architecture and Design, workshop teacher, and coordinator of the Theory and Research line at Finis Terrae University, Santiago de Chile (FAD-UFT).
