Abstract
The possibility of referring nothingness through language has been a concern of many mystics, philosophers, writers and artists throughout history. In the particular field of mysticism studies, it has been conceptualized a negative or apophatic discourse, characterized by intensive use of denials, contradictions and tautologies. From our point of view, it is possible to distinguish there a poetics that is actualized in contemporary production through three modes: nothingness as subject, nothingness as materiality and nothingness as effect.
