Evaluation of the sound environment to improve learning conditions at Anáhuac Mayab University

Proyecto: InvestigaciónInvestigación aplicada

Detalles del proyecto

Descripción

This project proposes the monitoring and analysis of noise levels in an architecture teaching laboratory at Anáhuac Mayab University, in order to evaluate their effects on students' academic performance and hearing comfort. Through the use of acoustic sensors, daily logs, and qualitative interviews, objective and subjective data on the acoustic conditions of the space will be obtained. The objective is to establish concrete recommendations to improve the quality of the educational environment, promote user well-being, and optimize the design of academic spaces.

Descripción de Layman

This project aims to find out how noisy an architecture teaching lab at Anáhuac Mayab University really is, and how that noise might affect students—both in their learning and in how comfortable they feel. To do this, we’ll measure noise with sensors, keep track of it daily, and also talk with students to understand their personal experiences. With this information, we want to give clear recommendations to make the classroom environment quieter and more pleasant, so students can focus better, feel more comfortable, and have spaces designed to support their learning.

Hallazgos clave

Determination of average noise levels, peaks, and variations in the laboratory.
Identification of critical factors that increase noise levels, including their source, propagation, and reception.
Diagnosis of user perceptions of the acoustic environment.
Proposal of solutions (design, performance, equipment) to improve the environment.
Technical basis for future architectural or regulatory interventions within the university.
