Abstract

The regulation of scientific research is crucial to ensuring in-tegrity, safety, and ethics in research processes. This protects research subjects and guarantees the validity of results. In Mexico, the National Bioethics Commission (CONBIOETICA) plays a central role as a promoter of ethical practices in re-search, in collaboration with ethics committees and bioethics boards in universities, public health institutes, and public and private academic institutions. The legislation applicable to the ethics and bioethics of scientific research in Mexico inclu-des specific regulations, such as the General Health Law and a set of Official Mexican Standards, which define the ethical guidelines to be followed by state bioethics committees, uni-versities, and health centers involving living beings in their research. It is essential that public and private institutions conducting scientific research not only understand but also apply these regulations, fostering a culture of respect for human dignity rooted in ethics and bioethics
